Although the new 2017 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque promises to offer something more than an everyday grocery-getter, it falls short on utility purposes. Therefore we find it hard to fully recommend it. Its release date, according to various sources privy of its developments, should be expected sometime in August 2017.
Despite it costing a lot more than other luxury crossovers, the new Range Rover Evoque comes with lots of value for the money. The value is in form of a beautiful exterior and interior design, an unrivaled off-road ability, an available two-door body style, an impressive fuel economy rating, and excellent handling character.
It’s obvious for any vehicle carrying a Land Rover nameplate to stay true to off-road superiority, and therefore the Evoque doesn’t surprise anyone when it trumps other compact crossovers when the asphalt turns to dirt. This is perhaps one amongst the few vehicles in the segment that can actually combine a stylish, modern and sophisticated demeanor with an unmatched off-road gonzo.
The new model comes chock full of standard equipment and features even at its basic level. While buyers shouldn’t expect any radical changes next year, there isn’t any doubt that it will stay true to its roots and perfection. Engine matters remain unaltered for the new model although a bit of an update would have worked even well especially in such a competitive segment.
It is fairly frugal as before and manages to impress with its fuel consumption which EPA has quoted as 30 mpg when cruising at highway speeds. A lot however remains to be desired in the new model relative to what the competition offers.
At the same time, like wearing high heels to a day-long party, opting for style over function has its own drawbacks. The interior space is limited, even by crossover standards. The rear visibility is jeopardized as well. The window sticker, although it’s what Land Rover charges for the Evoque’s lust-worthy shape, isn’t justified. Our own opinion though.
If you’re shopping in the segment you might stumble upon other alternatives such as the spacious and well-appointed 2017 BMW X3. The X3 offers plenty of value such as a superior acceleration, additional engine choices including a fuel-sipping diesel variant. Others in the segment worth giving the Evoque a run for its money include the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, the 2017 Lexus NX 200t, and the 2017 Audi Q5.
