2017 BMW X1 Release Date, Specs and News

2017 BMW X1  Release date, Review and Info – We have a new entry in the mini SUV segment for this year and it is the 2017 BMW X1 car. It arrives at just the right time for the brand as it is getting ready to rival such giants as the Audi Q3 and the Mercedes-Benz GLA cars. This is going to be the first second-generation vehicle of the car that made its first appearance on the market some six years ago. 2017 bmw x1 front view, headlights, grille and alloy wheels

BMW launched the car in 2009 and was the brand’s smallest crossover vehicle and the fourth smallest SUV. The car had sedan-like dynamics to its design, a powerful engine and some great fuel economy specs. The fan base that the first generation vehicle managed to achieve with its enormous sales will be a tough thing to overpass. The second-generation car is going to try and achieve this by making a new exterior with a newly revamped interior and also bringing a few new powertrains as options.

One of the most important things for the X1 vehicle is that it is going to be the first BMW SUV which is going to include an all-wheel drive. It is going to lend the UKL platform from the Mini Cooper models and incorporate it in its design. It will also include a new type of a FWD mechanism that some other cars coming from BMW this year are going to use. The release date is going to come in just a few months and in this review you can find out everything you want to know about the car before its official release.

2017 BMW X1 exterior

The new 2017 BMW X1 is going to have an evolutionary exterior design which is going to change its appearance compared to the previous car, but not in a radically big way. Much of the styling cues are going to be borrowed from the BMW X3 and BMW X5 cars as they share much of the details among each other. The front fascia has been fitted with a slightly bigger kidney grille from before and it combines with some sleeker headlamps as well. Below, there are some larger fog lamps and air intakes placed which help the car look both bigger and aggressive looking compared to before. The car is much more handsome this way and will not be considered the odd end out in the BMW lineup anymore.

From the waist down, the side profile of the car is almost the same as the one before. The trademark part which is the beltline is still present while the side skirt area adds some new creases to it. But the waist up part has been changed considerably as it adds a taller glass area, a raked roofline and a bigger quarter window. The rear fascia also has its fair share of changes added as well. It has some bigger taillights which look much better and add to the very nicely sculptured back side of the car. Generally speaking, mini-SUVs are not that great of looking cars, but the 2017 X1 manages to change that premise as it looks more like a small X5 vehicle.

The interior of the 2017 BMW X1 is also made in the same evolutionary fashion and is a big step forward compared to the previous look of the car. It actually manages to carry much of its previous cues to the new one also but does so in a magnificent fashion that you do not notice them at first. Actually, it has a lot to brag about and holds a lot more space than before as it is a much comfortable setting that way. The spacing has been increase for up to 1.5 inches and can extend up to 2.5 inches when adjusting the seats. If we fold the rear seats down, we also get a 15% increase in cargo space as it can be much more useful and applicable that way.

2017 bmw x1 interior, leather seats

The dashboard of the car gains a cleaner new look. This is done by incorporating a floating display and also by making the AC vents smaller than previously. There is a vertical aluminum trim that splits the dashboard into two and gives a classier appearance that way. The center stack area is placed nearer the infotainment screen which gives us a lot more storage space that way. Standard features added to the 2017 BMW X1 are a seven-speaker audio system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and cruise control. The seats come dressed in cloth as standard, but you can expand by adding leather upholstery as optional. Other optional parts of equipment are an 8.8-inch display, a panoramic moonroof and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.

2017 bmw x1 engine

The good news about the powertrain is that the 2017 BMW X1 is going to come with a wide range of engine options available, but the sad part is that these options are only available for different markets, which leaves the US version only equipped with one engine selection. But the US versions come exclusively fitted with an all-wheel drive and a xDrive28i trim. The engine in question is a twin-turbo, 2.0-liter, four-cylinder that makes 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. The power output is actually lower than in the previous version but the acceleration is higher, giving the X1 the ability to speed up to 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds. The top speed is 130 mph, but can be optimally increased to go as 143 mph. The same eight-speed automatic transmission is going to be utilized here as well.

You might have expected that the 2017 BMW X1’s switch from RWD to AWD is going to bring us a reduce cost for the car, but the truth is that the modern version is going to be a bit more expensive. The car is going to be priced at $33,000 for its starting price. The vehicle is going to be available for sale in just two months’ time when you will have the opportunity to get it at your local dealers.

2017 BMW X3 Release Date, Specs and News

2017 BMW X3 Release Date, News, Specs – The new 2017 BMW X3 is an excellent, if somewhat pricey, choice for a luxury crossover SUV. With its wide-ranging talents, top-notch crash-test scores, generous passenger and cargo volume, a broad selection of engines, and a high-quality cabin, the 2017 BMW X3 is a solid choice for buyers in the segment. Its release is slated for mid-next year, at least according to industry pundits.

Given the new X3 is in its seventh year of production, the changes and the mild redesigns are something worth waiting for, and it does so without breaking a sweat. To be quite frank, the X3 is virtually faultless, and the only one you can find is the pricey sticker price which is estimated at a whopping $42,450 for the X3 Diesel and $38,950 for the SUV. But what do you expect when such a vehicle lacks any cons, eh?

2017 BMW X3 side view, alloy wheels

The 2017 model doesn’t feature any significant changes over the previous model, as the previous model came with substantial changes that covered almost all its facets. The changes especially those made on is front fascia made it look as a downsized BMW X5. Others include a new addition to the existing color palette.

Despite its age in the segment, the X3 hasn’t aged a day and seems to have even gotten better juts like a good wine. The existing competition will undoubtedly have a hard time catching up but in overall, the vantage held by the X3 over its competitors is quite enormous.

The competition in the segment is nevertheless high-octane. Some of the rivals here include the 2017 Porsche Macan – it offers hatchback-style cargo volume and plenty of sporty amenities. BMW’s own 2017 Q5 although similarly aged, is a fine alternative when it comes to the intricate blend of comfort and performance.

The 2017 Acura RDX is also another formidable alternative which offers more value, space, and is generous in terms of the features and technologies offered. Meanwhile, both the 2017 Lexus NX and the 2017 Volvo XC60 offer a stylish, slick and impeccably trimmed cabin, and a family-friendly cabin.
