New 2017 Audi S3 Release Date, Specs & Info

The new 2017 Audi S3 is even more attractive than its previous self. It now gets newly designed taillights and headlights, new driver-assistance systems, and engines as well. Furthermore, it also gets the Audi Virtual cockpit that brings on board an innovative display and operating concept. Before we get carried away, here’s what you should expect in this Audi S3 review: price and release date details, exterior and interior photos and redesigns, and specifications for the engine.

For starters, the new 2017 Audi S3 is available in Cabriolet, Sedan, and Sportback body styles. And once again, the new model which hails from the bigger Audi A3 family sets the bar high in terms of the numerous driver assistance systems it comes with. Some of the upgraded driver-assisting technologies include Audi pre-sense front, Audi active lane assist, and pedestrian protection. Others include the Stop&Go feature, adaptive cruise control, and traffic jam assist.

The 2017 Audi S3 interior is well highlighted by the available Audi Virtual cockpit operating concept that becomes the first for the Audi A3 and S3. Via the available 12.3” diagonal TFT screen, important driver-related information can be shown. Theirs is the infotainment and view mode available for the driver to choose from.

The Audi S3 2017 is a higher performance version of the A3. While it may not be an excellent choice for a road trip vehicle, it is an ideal choice for people looking for an engaging compact luxury sedan. Some of the highlights that define it include excellent handling, a stonking four-cylinder engine, an all-time AWD system, and an upscale interior. On the flipside though, it disappoints in terms of lacking many convenience features, and suffering from limited legroom.

To sum it all up, the Audi S3 is the go-to vehicle if you’re looking for a sporty, fuel efficient, and luxurious vehicle. And yet, you get all these features plus the aforementioned ones without actually breaking the bank or dipping into your kid’s college funds. It is that awesome!

But let’s try to be realistic for a while, folks. The segment is awash with its kind. For instance, there’s the 2017 Mercedes-Benz CLA45AMG, which boasts of a great personality and interior quality, and more power. On the flipside though, the Benz suffers from the same list of foibles the Audi S3 suffers from in addition to being a bit expensive. But at the end of the day a choice has to be made and if I were to be in those shoes, I’d definitely go with the Audi S3. Other fine rivals include the 2016 Subaru WRX STI, and the 2016 BMW 2 Series Coupe.

Before options, a MSRP starting from around $42,500. Leasing is also an option. Its release date according to recent news should be expected sometime in the first half of 2017.

2017 Audi S3 Exterior Changes

The new model comes with minor changes inside and out. Dimensions are unchanged from before, but comes with plenty of borrowed styling cues from the regular Audi wit, it comes with the sedan’s aggressive body lines and sharper features. Up front, the hexagonal grille is not only more angular in design but is also wider. The bumper and the engine hood are more muscular, while the headlamps are a bit flatter.

The result is a fine-looking S3 that mimics the appearance of the Audi RS3 significantly, which is plus for buyers who can’t afford the expensive option. LED and Matrix LED technologies are optional while xenon elements are standard. Changes continue around back, there’s a new diffuser with larger fins, a reshaped bumper, and new taillight designs.

Five new colors wrap-up the exterior changes for the Audi S3 2017. They include Nano Grey, Ara Blue, Tango Red, Cosmic Blue, and Vegas Yellow.

2017 Audi S3 Interior Review

Given the fresh nature of the Audi S3 model’s interior, nothing much was added or upgraded. Features include a three-spoke steering wheel, a leather-wrapped driver seat with massaging functions, Audi’s Virtual cockpit, LTE connectivity, and redesigned menus.
