The new 2017 Volkswagen Touran is once again set to be released in the automotive world. Volkswagen Commercial vehicles and passenger cars arguably offer one of the most attractive and diverse ranges of MPVs anywhere in the world. Commercial vehicles include the Caddy and the Multivan while the passenger car brands include the Sharan, Touran and the Golf Sportsvan. All these models complement each other resulting in an extensive and broad array of options that meet customer needs. The Touran release date should be expected sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
The new Volkswagen Touran 2017 comes with a practical advantage as a result of its maximum utilization of a minimum vehicle footprint. This is made possible by the MQB platform – Modular Transverse Matrix – that yields maximum results in maneuvering and driving dynamics. Due to the MQB platform, the overall length of the vehicle is substantially increased, and the new model now measures 113 mm longer than the outgoing model. This increase has impacted positively the usable interior space. Furthermore, the increased length and a slightly decrease in height – by around 6mm – makes the new Touran more aerodynamic.
The overall design of the new model has completely been altered. For one, the design concept was refined and in some instances reinvented. The strong underlying continuity has been retained but the vehicle now has a sharper look similar to the Multivan. The precise lines and the long side mirrors make it appear noticeably lighter and sportier. Again, the aerodynamics have been reworked, and Volkswagen says the new model has a value of 0.296 for the aerodynamic drag coefficient – a stoking cD value for an MPV.
2017 Volkswagen Touran Release Date & Price
The new model is expected to go for sale for an MSRP starting from $23,000 – at least according to credible reports. Its release date, as already mentioned, should be expected sometime in the first quarter of 2017.
2017 Volkswagen Touran Exterior
The front fascia of the Touran gives it a new and unmistakable depth of class. The width is emphasized with a number of horizontal sections. The lines complement each other harmoniously and logically. The cross pieces, for instance, extend naturally to form a cohesive, single element into the headlights.
Relative to the outgoing model, the new headlights are much slimmer and possess a three-dimensional shape. As a first in the model, Volkswagen has offered LED lighting as an option. The low center of gravity and the width are further accentuated by the Touran’s lower breath opening.
The sides of the vehicle are accentuated by the horizontal lines and the powerful wheel arches that further the side visual accents. In comparison to the previous model, the window design is much flatter and more stylish and extends all the way to the D-pillar from the A-pillar. The combination of the narrower C-pillar, more distinct A- and D-pillar, and a glossy B-pillar further its exclusivity. For the Comfortline, Standard, and the Highline models, theirs is the chrome trim that has been offered for the first time. The side sills are charismatic and this reinforces the silhouette’s commanding air and an impression of stability.
Last but certainly not the least, are the wheels beneath. Volkswagen has offered the Touran 16/17- and 18-inch wheels. The sixteen-inch wheels are offered for the Touran Trendline and Touran Comfortline models, and the Touran Highline takes the seventeen-inch wheels. The eighteen-inch wheels are an option.
2017 Volkswagen Touran Interior
The interior length has been increased and now measures about 1,779mm – an increase of around 63mm from the previous model. The dashboard has been redesigned and is driver-centric than before. The cargo volume has also been improved from the previous model it is replacing. Volkswagen estimates the new volume to be around 1,857 litres.
Four trims are available, as of this writing, Standard, Comfortline, Highline, and the Trendline. Slight changes can be expected on its release date.
