The Camry – a perennial best seller for Toyota continues with its balancing act in trying to forge forward without abandoning its roots. With so many rivals in the segment, Camry’s designers and engineers have had to put extra effort in trying to revitalize the Camry. For 2017, it comes with an even more sophistication and upscale technologies and materials. And key to the Camry’s ongoing success, it still guarantees its consumers of a hushed, buttery ride and an ergonomic control layout.
There are lots of styling flourishes on its interior, a more conservative bodywork, and a tuner inspired performance. Other notable changes offered for the 2017 Toyota Camry include a vibrant blue interior trim, smoked taillights, flashy 18-inch wheels, and a sport-tuned suspension.
The segment offers a plethora of alternatives. Intriguing options include the fuel-efficient 2017 Mazda 6 and 2017 Ford Fusion, the refreshed 2017 Honda Accord, and the all-rounded 2017 Hyundai Sonata.
Even with so many desirable options available, the 2017 Toyota Camry remains the vehicle to beat with its distinct comfort- and sport-oriented model lines and cutting edge technology.
2017 Toyota Camry Engine Specs
Under the hood of every 2017 Toyota Camry is a four-cylinder 2.5L engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission system. The system then forwards the power generated – 178 hp and 170 lbs. ft. of torque to the standard front wheel drive system.
Test drives reveals the Camry LE trim model only requires about 8.3 seconds to reach 60 mph.
More oomph can be had with the 3.5L V6 engine which is rated at 268 hp and 248 pounds-feet of torque, and comes beneath the hoods of the XSE and XLE trim models. The XLE V6 only needs 6.2 seconds to sprint from 0-60 mph.
EPA estimates the fuel consumption for the four-cylinder to stand at 35/25/28 mpg on the highway/city/combined. This is a bit disappointing relative to what its competition offers particularly the 2017 Honda Accord and the 2017 Mazda 6.
The V6, on the other hand, is projected to return 31/21/25 mpg. Its top speed should be expected on its release date, say credible sources.
