The new 2017 Land Rover Defender will be Land Rover’s fifth generation SUV that will feature a more upmarket cabin, significantly reduced curb weight, radical new looks, and tons of technology features for the money. According to Land Rover, the new model will be less ‘polarising, universally appealing, and without compromises as opposed to being specialized in its design and ethos. Additionally, it would offer more off-roading capability that’s best-in-class. Throw in a bespoke design, and core engineering technology. Furthermore, the class-leading technology will be spruced up by the laser scanning system. The system will be capable of adjusting both transmission and suspension based on the road ahead.
In terms of dimensions, Land Rover says the new model won’t be any bigger than the current model. This comes at a time when the marque has been vocal at their plans in offering vehicles that use lightweight materials and composites, are more sustainable and lightweight.
The new 2017 Land Rover Defender interior, as before, will feature premium features and technologies. Some of the technologies that will be available on the new model include a crisp and responsive infotainment system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alerts, and a slew of driver aides.
Also available are a number of body styles and various trim models meant to cater for various clientele. But even with so much changes and redesigns, the segment also offers several other options as well. Some of the alternatives include the 2017 Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Jeep Wrangler, and the ‘90s Defender.

It is too early to speculate what lurks beneath its hood. However, my crystal ball tells me we should expect a wide array of engines ranging from a supercharged 5.0L V8 to the new 2.0L four-cylinder.
