With powerful, durable V8 engine, and strong towing capacities, the 2017 GMC Savana is able to offer plenty of functionality and performance. It is also very versatile. However, you’ll find its rivals to offer pleasant driving ride quality, fuel-efficiency, and more interior accommodations. The GMC Savana release date should be expected sometime in the latter half of 2017.
Over the years, GMC has stood out as a popular provider of full-size vans. The Savana, in particular, has appealed to tradespeople, community groups, and large families that need constant hauling. It is also able to offer an exemplary towing capacity, in fact, GM says the 2017 model is able to achieve a maximum towing capacity of 10,000 lbs. and a payload capacity of about 3,500 lbs., and can accommodate up to fifteen passengers.
This features aren’t mean feat, and have made the Savana a popular choice in its class due to the said purposes. It happens to be one of the few body-on-frame pickup trucks that are fast fading out of the segment in favor of carlike mechanicals.
Under the hood, the new 2017 GMC Savana doesn’t disappoint and comes equipped with a brawny V8 engine that can run on either diesel or gasoline, and offers lots of power. The Chevrolet Express, which compares to the Savana in most ways is also offered by GMC. But most other full-size vans for 2017 have thoroughly been overhauled and provide impressive towing and payload capacities, and enhanced headroom thanks to the tall-roof layout.
Among those that offer amazing specs include the Ram ProMaster, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, and the 2017 Ford Transit. These vehicles offer superior foundation for commercial upfits, and multiple roof height configurations. Another appealing option you can consider is the Nissan NV that, although lacks a diesel powerplant option, offers a space-efficient interior.

Opting for the optional 6.0L V8 engine gets you an impressive output of 329 horsepower and 373 pounds-ft. of torque. The Savana offers a CNG-fueled 6.0L V8 powerplant rated at 282 hp and 320 pounds-feet of torque.
When it comes to the fuel economy ratings, expect the 2500 series to check in with 11/16/13 mpg in the city/highway/combined, and 11/16/12 mpg with the 3500 series. These are mediocre ratings compared to the rest of the models in the segment that average with about 15 mpg in combined rating.
