The latest product coming out of the Ford department is the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST vehicle. In fact this was a surprising entry as nobody has expected the model to appear this year as the high performance model was not mentioned in any plans. Instead everybody was hoping and waiting to get the RS version which was in minds of many fans. It came as a surprise when the Fiesta ST was announced in the end but actually turned out to be a happy sport of a surprise.
The first time the Ford Fiesta ST was ever seen was in 2013 when it came out with a staggering output of 179 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque thanks to its 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. This new model that comes out from Ford is set to produce 10% more power than its forefather and come with 20% more torque to it as well. But this is not the only thing that the Fiesta ST comes with, it also offers a bundle of features that are otherwise not available in any other Ford Fiesta model currently on the market.
Ford Performance offering has never been so strong, is what the Chief Technical Officer form Ford states, and we are sure that he is a hundred percent right. If we take a look at the ground breaking RS model, or GT supercar and now the newest ST we have a whole range of proofs to support this claim. The technology is actually put there to support every person, every lifestyle and of course every budget, so you can see how the versatility of this model actually works. We are all expecting that the new Ford Fiesta ST 2017 brings the hype that it was expected to come its release date and we will be able to see it for the first time at the Geneva Auto show, till then you can check out this review.
There are not going to be many physical changes done to the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST model. The biggest change that has been immediately noticed is that the model now bares a unique Storm Grey finish. Besides this the corner vents, the front grille, mirror arms, air dam louvers, 17-inch alloy wheels are painted with a black color which actually brings forth a very premium look and makes everything come together very nicely. Ford usually chooses a darker color in order to make the vehicle more eye catching, but as we can see it works pretty well like this as well. The model also adopts red brake calipers and the special ST budging on the sides.
A part of the Ford Performance experience is the used suspension dampers and springs. They are placed both the the front and rear sides. This feature drops the height of the car it 15 mm off ground and manages to lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. There is a lesser gap between the tires and the wheel arches now as the ST looks much better than other vehicles in the Ford lineup.
The interior of the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST has been significantly upgraded. Something that the fans are going to be looking for when the release date comes are the features on the inside, luckily the Ford Fiesta ST 2017 is not going to leave them hanging. The car uses some Recaro seats wrapped in Charcoal colored leather with silver stitching. Besides this the enhancements include the door handle facing the front while the mirror and the window controls are placed a bit back down the trim.
The door panel has been completely revamped as this one has the handle positioned in middle of the armrest. The storage pockets are the same but without the bulky door handle from before makes for a much cleaner and sophisticated look now. Thanks to all of these changes the cabin looks a bit cleaner and has more space on the inside.
The steering wheel, the dash and the instrument cluster are all carried over but the changes that are included feature a relatively smaller infotainment control knob, the ST badge is placed just above the shifter and that is pretty much it. The changes are not that great but are in fact good enough to bring us a great remodeling of the car.
The heart and soul of every car is the engine design and it is the same for the 2017 Ford Fiesta ST model. The 2017 version is going to use a 1.6-liter, EcoBoost, four-cylinder engine model which is going to help it attain a power output of 197 horsepower and 213 pound-feet of torque, which is a massive power boost compared to the other Fiesta cars and the previous version of this one as well. The top speed specs of the car have been released and they state that the model is going to achieve a 143 mph but the 0-60 mph acceleration has not been disclosed, but there are some statements that say it is around 6.7 seconds now.
