Poised to be the last year of production, the new 2017 Chevrolet SS aims to close its chapter with a raft of changes over the existing model. Some of the new features to expect include new colors – orange Blast and Nightfall Gray Metallic that now replace Mystic Green Metallic, Jungle Green Metallic, and Some Like It Hot Red Metallic. Other changes include performance tweaks and slight exterior and interior modifications. Although it’s quite early to offer an in-depth analysis of what the new Chevrolet SS offers, below is a review we’ve knit together based on the teaser images and spy pictures available. Release date rumors and pricing estimates are also reviewed. So enjoy the read!
Even with a discontinuation glaring at it, the new 2017 Chevrolet SS continues to make a unique blend of spaciousness, comfort, and performance. It ensures you get from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds, thanks to the powerful 6.2L V8 engine rated at 415 horsepower and 415 lbs. ft. of torque. And all this power is packaged in one well-equipped, smooth riding, whisper-quiet, and comfortable sports car package.
As you can see, it is quite evident that the new Chevrolet SS 2017 won’t be getting any performance updates, at least in terms of output and acceleration. Rumors however allege that tits magnetic ride suspension, and handling are slated for some enhancements over those in the previous models. Even while the existing model boasted of a superior suspension, Chevrolet engineers still saw the opportunity for bettering it. Buyers should now expect a more precise handling and smooth ride quality made possible by the upgraded 3rd-generation Magnetic Ride Control.
Both the interior and exterior designs have been invigorated to offer better performance and alluring visual aesthetics. The exterior features a sculpted, athletic exterior design that is manifested via the aggressive front fascia that flows into the tapered rear. The aerodynamics cues are unchanged from the previous model’s design, at least according to the spy photos we have. Although the camouflage makes it impossible even for a hawk-eyed pundit to make any sense of what the interior layout offers, Chevrolet says buyers should expect minimum changes. With most of the changes only affecting the technologies and materials’ quality. One thing’s for sure though, the interior is intuitive and refined.
2017 Chevrolet SS Release Date & Price
Pricing for the new model is expected to start from an MSRP of around $46,000. The reason the price is expected to remain unchanged over the previous model is the fact that the 2017 SS will not come with any substantial changes. Credible reports put its release date sometime in mid-2017.

Some of the exterior features to expect include 19-inch wheels, xenon headlights, summer performance tires, and a sunroof.
