A high performance model of the CTS is now being issued and is dubbed the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V. This is going to be an updated for an already familiar model that made its debut in 2004 with the exact premise of providing us a more performance orientated version of the CTS model. The model was initially aimed to provide some worthy competition to BMW M5 or E63 AMG from Mercedes-Benz.
The first model that was produced started with a Corvette LS6 V-8 which immediately offered an output of over 400 horsepower. The second generation model came back with an 6.2-liter V-8 engine based on LS9 model. This one was able to go well beyond 500 horsepower and gave us an exact total of 556 hp and 551 pound-feet of torque. This is currently the third generation model which is rolling out at its designated release date and brings us more power than the previous ones ever had. This is going to be thanks to the updated technology the engine receives and the updates it is being given.
But a 640-horsepower V-8 engine is not the only thing that the newest Cadillac CTS-V 2017 offers, it also rebuilds its interior much in the way the 2017 ATS-V has done so as well. The custom features that are inspired by the V-series are immense and provide a much more interesting inside for the car now. The refurbishing are enough to make this CTS-V the most prominent one ever built, but is it enough to beat the immense competition that car is facing, only time will tell. This is going to be already familiar with coming of the release date but you can get all of the information here in the review ahead of time.
The latest 2017 Cadillac CTS-V is going to have a lot of styling elements to its exterior carried over form the 2014 CTS version but it will combine them with some new and prominent ones. The front part of the car only keeps the headlamps unchanged, while a better part of the vehicle has been altered. The car has an extremely menacing look up front and, more importantly, has improved aerodynamic capacities. The grille has a brand-new mesh pattern and is much narrower from before. The thin air dam that we have seen on the regular CTS models is larger here and has the matching honeycomb mesh.
On the side of the vehicle , the side intakes have been changed and the apron has a carbon-fiber splitter. The hood is also made from carbon-fiber which besides a new design has an air-extracting vent that helps reduce lift and keeps the hot air out of the engine. The Cadillac CTS-V 2017 is lower when viewed on the side as it has a track-optimized suspension. The back fo the car carries the least amount of changes, with a new trunklid spoiler and a redesigned bumper which has some V-series elements added. A diffuser-like piece with round quad pipes replaces the old exhaust tip system that was used. All of this is going to be exclusively presented once the release date comes.
The performance and the exterior do not suggest how the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V looks on the inside. The interior of the car is as luxurious as it gets. The car has upgraded its convenience specs as it does compete against some pretty exclusive models and they managed to compile a pretty decent setup for the 2017 version. The cabin uses some 20-way adjustable seats with heating and ventilation. The seats are wrapped in semi-aniline leather with sueded microfiber and the new design manages to provide plenty of lateral support. Recaro performance seats wrapped in Mulan leather upholstery are available as optional for those who want to do more racing with the model.
The cabin is packed with a lot of soft-touch materials and decorative stitching. You can see it everywhere, on the steering wheel, door panels and the shift knob as well. The interior is also offered in a three colored combination which adds Jet Black, Jet Black with Light Platinum accents, and Saffron with Jet Black accents. There are some unique features offered as well and they mean a 12.3-inch instrument cluster with a full-color head-up display, the latest CUE infotainment system which is standard, Siri Eyes Free, a Bose Surround Sound audio system, wireless inductive phone charging and OnStar 4G LTE connectivity with built-in Wi-Fi hotspot and many more.
The engine specs are perhaps the most important part and news about the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V model. What we are excited the most is the usage of a 6.2 liters V-8 engine now used under the hood. Besides being lightweight with some aluminum cylinder heads and titanium intake valves it is also a powerful one as well. Additionally, the 1.9-liter supercharger engine from before has been replaced with a 1.7 liter version which does manage to provide a more efficient output. The specs say that the V8 is able to provide 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque, which is 84 ponies and 79 pound-feet more than the model before it. The 0-60 mph acceleration is achieved at 3.7 seconds, which makes it pretty close to other matching models in the lineup. Finally, the powertrain is going to combine with a GM’s 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission for better and quicker shifting ability.
