It appears that the Audi has finally unveiled its beefed up version of coupe car, so make way for the 2017 Audi TT roadster. The model is planned for release next year but there is still hope that it may arrive earlier. In fact, the case with the Audi TT base version was that its third generation car was issued in 2014 but it only arrived on the US market in 2015 and was actually released as a 2016 model. The same fate may also wait for the Audi TT roadster model.

The model is going to be first available in its home market of Germany and then start hitting other markets across Europe. But the wait just might be worth it as it is the most powerful and lightest TT model that was ever built.

The Audi TT roadster brand was launched in 2009, which was 11 years after the base version of the Audi TT was made and three years after the TT Mk2 model. The first ever model was powered by a legendary 2.5-liter, five-cylinder engine that produced 335 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of twist. Compared to the base version, it had a sportier look and a styling which was revised for the better case and made into a stellar looking car. The model came to the US in 2012 and with the release of the Sport version the model was also updated with a new and improved engine.

The 2017 Audi TT roadster is going to borrow the exterior looks of its base version. This means that there are going to be certain parts that are making a crossover to the roadster version. The sharp front grille is transferred as well as the new redesigned headlights that vehicle has received. The interior of the 2017 Audi TT roadster  is going to have the base elements of the standard car but is enhanced with some sportier elements. The main highlights of the interior are red stitching on the center console,  red accents on the A/C vents, a flat-bottom steering wheel  and further red accents on the shifter and door panels. The steering wheel is completely wrapped in leather and adds two operating buttons for turning on the engine and the Drive Select function.

All models come equipped with a 12.3-inch screen in the instrument cluster and comes in three views. This digital display gives you various kinds of information and tells you about the important aspects of the car and additionally has a shift light which informs you once the engine has reached its limit. The center console is further accented by aluminum and carbon-fiber trims which make it even more sportier from the inside. Beside the center stack, these accents are also seen on the seats, bolstered pedals and door panels.

Engine

There were certain rumors that the 2017 Audi TT roadster might continue without the engine variant that was used for before. But the engine will not be dropped and the car continues its way with the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine. But it does come with some improvements like turbo-five with lightweight construction, enhanced output and reduced internal friction. It also makes it about 22 pounds lighter and enables it to make 400 horsepower, which is a 17% increase from before, or full 60 horsepower more. The torque goes up as well and reaches its maximum at 354 pound-feet delivered at 1,700 rpm. This is a 22% increase or added 12 pound-feet of twist more. The 0-60 mph speed up is achieved in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph, but if we removed the limit it can go up to 174 mph.

2017 Audi TT roadster release date

The 2017 Audi TT roadster is currently being released in Europe at a price of €66,400. The people in America were hoping that we receive a release date which will place it at around this year but it seems that it is impossible so the car is going to arrive next year and the price is going to be about $68,000.
